Yes, we do have
quite a range, simply to offer more choice. In most cases, the choice
of the carrier oil is not crucial as the purpose of these oils is
to provide a vehicle or means of diluting and carrying essential
oils for use in massage or skin application. By using a carrier
oil, the risk of dermal irritation is minimised.
The carrier
oils each have their own certain qualities that can be taken into
account. The main differing factor would be consistency. For instance:
Grapeseed, Apricot Kernel and Almond are very thin and light in
texture being more suitable for large areas of coverage - ie: full
body massage. On the other hand, Avocado, Wheat germ and Macadamia
are thicker in consistency and therefore are appropriate in lesser
areas of cover ie: face massage or localised treatment.
Rose Hip oil
is exceptional when treating dry, sun damaged and maturing skin
(wrinkles) yet is to be avoided in acne conditions. Jojoba, which
is in fact a liquid wax and technically not an oil, is most suited
to oily skin types as a base for Aromatherapy blends.
Here are some
suggested recipes showing the most suited carrier oil for specific
skin types or conditions.
